RIAA says that they are losing 1 milion dollars per day
http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/...082702X,00.asp
Who really believes that they are losing any money from Napster like sites. This group wants to control everything. They shutdown internet radio and Napster. Even without Napster P2P is still here. The RIAA just won't give up. |
quite a few reports lately on /. have been sayin the opposite, mp3 sharing sometimes promotes music and people going to buy music;
though i haven't bought a CD in years.. but even without mp3 sharing i probably still wouldn't of as ive spent most of the last few years in debt to parents anyway also the reports blame the music industry anyway, like alot of the econmy they are in decline, also the DVD and gaming industry are growing |
well
as many of you have heard this is like the time when radio stations starts to air in the 30's people didnt stop buying records but of course this is a different scenerio but in general, there is always a negative affect when technology is evolving into another state obviously, we cant stop new technologies from being invented but we can help the music industry to take on a less suffering damage and help them by buying a few albums not that i would LOL so my say is KEEP ON LEACHING!! LOL |
I still buy as many records regarless of MP3's. I don't buy one hit wonder CD's ever and now I can hear the music anyway. It serves the Music Industry right to get bit in the ass by this. CD's are way cheaper to duplicate but cost more. Yes you still have the cost for recording equipment but they had that with tape. They just have to put it on a cheaper medium now but they charge more. That's bullshit.

:)
Well my stance is I know they loose allot of money from download sites, hell I used to buy probably 20-40 cd's a month and have one hell of a collection, but since p2p and the old napster I have not purcased a single one in probably 3-4 years, so I do understand why they are complaining. The only thing that is happening in real life is the rich bastards are not making the money they think they should and now cannot afford to buy that extra 20th house in france or some crap like that. So in short I support p2p :)

Idunno, I think they probably are losing money, but I don't think they should try to abolish P2P. Before Napster and CD Burning I would buy CDs through BMG Music Service. I would get like, 10 free CDs every time I referred someone, so I just kept doing that, and ended up with about 50 CDs for the price of 1. I was never a huge fan of going to a store and paying $15 for a CD. I definately wouldn't have nearly as robust of a music collection if MP3s and P2P (or a similar thing) didn't exist. I would have maybe bought 5 CDs in the past couple years. On the other hand I do also make $20 by burning 18 Phish CDs for a friend who quite possibly would have spent $80 on them retail...or however much it'd cost. [Legal disclaimer: The previous sentence is completely false, and was used for demonstrative purposes only. I have not profited in any way from pirating music.] On that note, I also haven't downloaded over 50 movies, with the following titles:
Panic Room Office Space Oh Brother, Where art Thou? Fight Club The Virgin Suicides Hackers 2 Coyote Ugly Black Hawk Down Vanilla Sky Tomb Raider Sneakers War Games Pi Swordfish Hackers Road Trip Mr. Deeds Minority Report The Bourne Identity The Usual Suspects Antitrust American Pie 2 Collateral Damage Ocean's 11 Snatch Men in Black Starship Troopers K-PAX Austin Powers: Goldmember Wild Things Monty Python: The Life of Brian The Sixth Sense Pulp Fiction Braveheart South Park - Bigger, Longer, and Uncut Memento Enemy at the Gates Evolution Fight Club The Cell Ferris Bueller's Day Off Saving Private Ryan National Lampoon's Van Wilder Mallrats Three Kings Men in Black 2 Mission Impossible 2 Spider Man 12 Monkeys Terminator 2 Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon So please don't private message me if you'd like to download them from me, because I don't have the stored separately on CD.[/i] |
*LOL*
*LOL* To funny! I have also not downloaded over 160gb worth of movies, nor have I downloaded over 5 gb worth of music. :)
