AGP Card for Non-Gamers

Hi,

I hv an Intel D850MV motherboard, Intel P4 2.20GHz and 1GB RDRAM (Kingston). My main work is on Adobe PhotoShop and Corel Draw. Picture Quality, clarity and speed on graphics opened and designed in Photoshop and Corel are very important.

Gaming is not an issue at all. I guess I play one game in six months time... so gaming is not at all important.

Pls suggest that should I go for ATI Radeon cards like ATI Radeon All in One 7500 series or 8500 series, or should I go for a Geforce 3 or 4 chip or Matrox 450 or 550

As per my understanding Geforce and NVidia chips are more useful or gamers, whereas Matrox and ATI cards are more towards non-gamers and serious graphic users....

Pls advise.

Regards.

In my massmedia class we have a video editing computer with a Matrox 450. I've also heard these are the best for non 3D apps. Also, in the same class, we have another computer with a GF4 MX440, and I dont see any difference.

Honestly, I would just go with whatever is cheapest, but still somewhat up to date...

The Radeon8500 DV is an excellent vid card.
The price of these cards hav dropped considerable since the Radeon 9700 Pro is for sale to the end users.
Super Buy and will perform any and all of what you wish to do.
This encludes cables for DV Recording and Playback to the TV.
Using a large screen TV for a monitor is a great idea.
