sigh
the good ol' days of tape drive

not alot of ppl use tape drive now
only servers do...

since dvd burning is more popular and adaptable

the only place i know personaly in Vancouver now is the bank my uncle work in
they use tape drive to backup the customer accounts database
and my uncle has to carry the tape home everyday

Yeah they are used more on Servers. Most of my customers are web hosting companies and resellers. The difference between burnning CDs and using a tape drive is capacity. I have tape drives that have a capacity of over 200TB and I have some with a capacity of 75GB.

Yes, that's true if it's all you need. I think some of my tape drives are cheaper though. I don't know how much DVDRs are going for.

some are 300 USD

which is cheap!

and each disc cost only about 10 USD or less
