Certification

Hey, I'm looking into getting certified at my school where they offer some classes where you can get microsoft certified but I'm not really sure if I should, what are the benifits?

There are a couple of benefits to getting MCSE certified. One that is really obvious is an increase in pay. However, and I mean no disrespect to those that are MCSE certified, all it means is that you know Windows. It can open some doors for you and it isn't like what it used to be when someone sais that they're MCSE certified. On the other hand, it'll show a prospective employer that you had the initiative to learn this stuff...which I'm sure goes a long way.

Has anyone actualy benifited from taking any classes over the net. ???

I would totally pay 130.00 bucks for 175 classes at a couple of hours/class. That is a great deal, unless the classes are not to helpfull.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I studied for my A+ certification online. It took alittle longer to complete, But it saved me about a thousand dollars on tuition and travel cost.

I say if your school offers it, and you have a little bit of extra time, go for it. If you really don't like it, quit. You can't really loose anything by becoming certified in anything. Even if your prospective jobs won't deal with your certification, it will look good on a resume.

Being MCSE certified myself, Id say that it definately helps you get in the door, but its the experience that grants the high payday

Im not sure if they do that anymore. I did when I got MCSE NT but its only a year. Theres an MCP mag they give you a subscription for too.

Im not sure but I dont think its free anymore, but they do give a discount.

If you really want to know im sure it tells you on the MSDN site somewhere.
