formatting in dos
what's the command for formatting in MS dos
in windows XP note: were working off a rescue disk on my bros comp |
"format" is the correct command.
Note: You must have format.com on that rescue disk. |
what is format.com?
and how do i apply it to the disk |
Obviously its not a website  Format.com is a small MSDOS Disk preparation software.
For further details on how to use it, type "Format /?" on the command prompt. or u can type, Format c: performs a low level format (size depends on the partition info) if u want ur HD to be bootable after initialization, type, Format C: /s if it is already formatted, type, format c: /q (performs a quick format) U can also use multiple switches like Format c: /q /s (quick + transfer system files) Note that the /s switch is not supported by windows XP MSDOS Shell. |

That's strange, Boot from a CDROM and do it all again. BIOS:Be sure to set the boot sequence to boot from a CDROM.
