We've seen the first 52x writer in the form of the Lite-On 52x24x52x drive. If you're on the lookout for 52x drives, take a look at the new AOpen 52x24x52x and decide for yourself which writer deserves your dollars and cents.
As a 52x writer, the AOpen is more than capable of standing on its own ground. If you're looking for a pure 52x writer, you can't go wrong with this AOpen drive. The fact that it is media-friendly is good news as 52x-rated CD-R is next to non-existent in this part of the world. As a 52x CD-ROM, it is tough not liking the AOpen drive too although we would have expected better CD-RW media support.
