mandrake Linux 9.0 internet and network *Help Plz*
 

Hi,
I am running mandrake linux 9.0 dual boot with windows xp.
I installed linux 2 days ago and i'm trying to get the network and internet going.
I've set it up as well as i can but it doesnt work.
I've managed to get the network as saying "up" but i dont know what to do from there (windows 98 computer is networked)

When i try to connect to the internet it says the modem doesnt respond and earlier in the setup it said there was an error but nothing specific.

Can anyone step by step guide me through the process as i'm lost as to what i should do next.
