thanks, eviltechie. But this the first for their PDAs. IBM PDAs use the palm os, an os not as robust as PocketPC till now.

well i do like PALM OS though

I am all for the palm OS. I have a palm Pda anyways. They are a good platform, especially OS 5.0. They still have a big share of the PDA market, and will for some time. I saw on The ScreenSavers, Techtv, a gaming device that will run using Linux. It was a cool device. So there will also be companies that want to use a different OS. For the future, I think, it will still be the Palm OS as the dominant OS.

Handspring's stock value is higher than palm i think
but the Visors uses palm's OS

so why is palm's stock value so low?
gotta do some research when i have time

That is a good question. When you look at Palm, what do you see? A company that makes PDAs as well as an OS. Now look at Handspring, what do they do? They just make PDAs. So Palm has more money spent on R&D than Handspring does. Eventhough Handspring licenses Palm OS.

I think a reason that Handspring has inflated stock value might be its most recent line, the Treo's--mainly the Treo 300. This is a sprint 3G voice and data compatable handset. It features a color 160x160 display, thumb keyboard, and includes the Blazer internet browser. It's a pretty nice phone, and I know that a lot of corporations are issuing them to employees, thousands at a time.

Palm makes nice PDA's...there's no question about that, but they don't have the edge on the market like Handspring does. The fact that they're essentially partnered with Sprint has to do wonders for sales.
