new dsl connect
 

got dsl today external ethernet modem put in all network config numbers bla bla bla ethernet card shows linked up by the light on the back but computer doesnt connect. win 98 1800 athlon
please help bubba :mad:

leave it on for a short time it takes time for the packets send/recieve to rack up...check ur connections................etc

Also in your internet options check to make sure it is not set to dial up for a connection, it should never dial a connection. this caused an issue for me. Try to ping some site like msn.com from a command line try to ping anything with a web address is you know the IP of a site use it. Check your WINIPCFG to see if you even have an IP address and you should probably be set to DHCP if you are not on a LAN with other systems so you can recieve an IP from your ISP.
