winXP BSD!

OK im really pissed off at Windows xp. Randomly in the middle of gameplay/installation I get a similar screen to the blue screen of death: it's a blue screen and says some bullshit on some application error and on the bottom of the screen, it says "dumping physical memory:x". The "x" represent a number that keeps on getting higher(23,24,25,26), and that sight scares the hell outta me. Oh and the same thing happened when I tried to install SP1. I'm thinking about reformatting and putting Win2k back if there is no other way around this problem. ~Any help appeciated~

try to run a mem check, if you have a mem stick going bad this "could" be one of the ways it manifests. Ain't sayin' that's the problem but give it a go around and see what' happens.

Well it says in dos during bootup i have 512, as well as dxdiag. Is that what u mean Grinnin?.

i think he means using a prog like the one on download.com go there and type in memory check or something is a trial prog and you put it on floppy and run it off boot unless you are using win98 but your using xp so you need to run it off boot.this takes a while to run but it will tell you if your memory is ok or not.

Just wanted to let you guys know it wasnt the ram all along, it was my cpu; i went into the bios and it said that my cpu was at 86 degrees c! not f c! so i just put the cpu fan spped to medium and the fan speed went up to 5,000 rpm(as compared to 3800).

Marine 03-21-2003 04:22 PM

isn't that a little hot though? i mean i got my 1.7 ghz P4 and i have my fan at 2500 RPM.idk just wondering i haven't used that fast a proccessor and idk if the brand plus the 200mhz difference makes that much of a difference but hey maybe i am wrong. :)
