Term of the day: EPLD
 

Short for electrically programmable logic device, an integrated circuit that is comprised of an array of programmable logic devices that do not come pre-connected; the connections are programmed electrically by the user.

Could you give some examples of such devices, and/or where this would be implimented, and/or advantages/disadvantages as compared to standard logic boards, or EEPROM, or whatever the closest equivilant technology is?
