Free Alexa Pop-Up Blocker

Through our partnership with Amazon.com, we are offering an exclusive Techware Labs version of the Alexa Toolbar. With the toolbar you can search the web, using the google search engine, right from your toolbar. This toolbar is a great way to surf the web because it constantly provides you with Related Links. This version also includes a powerful and customizable pop-up blocker. Plus, when you download and use the toolbar, you'll help support Techware Labs.

Download it here!

Thanks

the word alexa rings a spyware bell for me.. maybe it was something else.. but I haven't seen any toolbars that merit the space they take up and the stuff that you can already do without it. :shake:

use ad muncher for getting rid of spams......even on the site itself (ads, some types of sigs <--funny one, and some other stuff)

and i think i'll just use google itself because im not on 56k and i can have more than 1 internet explorer open withought the connection stalling

The Alexa toolbar does have spyware, but it goes to a good use. The alexa toolbar allows for somewhate accurate rankings on website sizes.

Alexa does have a very good privacy policy stated here:

Alexa is SpyWare that is in IE and can be delaeted by using Spybot 1.2
Which is free for download.

Alexa is a voluntarily-downloaded toolbar, like you can download a Google toolbar, or Yahoo toolbar. The difference is that Alexa notes what pages you visit, and sends them to the Alexa tracker server. Those statistics are used in generating traffic/popularity reports.

I suppose you *could* consider that spyware, except for the fact that people voluntarily downoad it... When I download something that sends statistics about my web browsing, I don't really consider it spying when it does its job.

I'm not saying you *should* download it. I'm not even saying it's good. I don't even use it, and I have a vested interest in using it (so as to increase the traffic rating for Techware Labs). I just wanted to clear up the apparent confusion about Alexa.

If you are using IE; you already have Alexa spyware put there by Microsoft.

Get spybot run it and you WILL see for yourself. AdAware will also find it but SpyBot is a better program.

I dunno maybe it's just me--but this seems an unlikely venue to be hawking the likes. of Alexa--your close relationship with Amazon notwithstanding.

Actually I understand the connection. Amazon already tries very hard to target "appropriate" advertising depending on what you buy there. I don't mind it too much when I'm logging on to their site but I don't welcome all that drek on my browser.

Note: Amazon owns Alexa.

This information is used to create all sorts of interesting statistics regarding the internet. In no way does the Alexa toolbar facilitate any advertisements or advertisement placements.
