ATI DRIVER PROBLEM

For one reason or another I had to reformat my computer... this led to re-intalling winXP... that's all well and good, then it tells me there is a problem with my ATI driver and I should re-install my display adapter; I find my disks and give it a shot... it's now telling me I should set up my display adapter with a "Standard VGA Driver" and then re-run the setup for my ATI Adapter...
So basically I need to find a "Standard VGA Driver." Anyone know where I can find one of these???

It's the default Windows driver.

Yeah I came across that in another forum... but I need to know how I can use the standard VGA driver, to get my computer to a point where I can Install the ATI Redeon 9000 Pro Driver.

ati problems

Like yourself, i have an ATI card, although yours is a bit newer.
One thing about ATI is that their drivers are updated almost tri-annually.
So you should visit the ATI site and check for updated drivers (and the new cards.... that probably will blow your 'older' card by then..)... (-:
anyway- try installing the drivers. if you have a scaled down version of a "full" card, ie "LE" model, then try the full model card's drivers!!!! Sometimes it works! Good luck. Windows drivers (on the windows installation cd are seriously outdated.

just install with "windows standard vga drivers" and then go from there. OR try installling an earlier ATI's drivers. and then go from there. On installation, all that matters is that text is readable for you to visit the ATI site to choose the correct rivers. Good luck.

anyway, just download the latest driver from the ati website, and go through the installation program, and pray!
