cold cathode .. how to connect to.?

Hi
I wanted to use cold cathodes for neither computers or cars and im wondering if it is poossible to connect or plug it into a regular wall socket?

yes/no. You need a transformer that will create the proper DC current. If you just put the wires into your wall, it will do bad things.

Well, you could hook it up to a PSU, but that'd be weird. I don't know if they make an adaptor to go from wall to molex, but just search the web, I'm sure you'll find one.

and you need an inverter as well

An unregulated dc 12v 1amp power supply with a cigarrette lighter socket... would that be adequate?

...whats an inverter for?

Basically what you already have is an invertor. An invertor is what converts from AC->DC or DC->AC. Basically it is the same thing as a transformer.

As long as you have 12 volts you should be able to hook it up without problems.

but cold cathode lights are AC

Well, is it DC coming out of the PSU? My cold cathodes have a little blue box (inverter) that they hook to. The little blue box hooks to a molex cable. I have my case modded where the on/off switch is in a small panal where my front USB hookups are.
