huge cpu variance

Under load, my cpu can get as high as 56c and idle it gets as low as 39 c.. seems like a huge difference. Any problem with 56c?

james 08-29-2003 02:18 PM

probably not. but i wouldn't want it getting any higher. what chip??

Jason425 08-29-2003 02:41 PM

p4 2.4c at 2.9 right now. Cooled by TT Spark 7+ but it doesn't seem to be doing its job too well. (under load at least)

eviltechie 08-29-2003 10:45 PM

what voltage?
no more than 1.6 right?

Jason425 08-30-2003 10:48 AM

it was 1.6 because i thought i needed it.. decided to take it down to 1.523 or whatever stock is, and temps are exactely the same.. just a little confusing..

gnogtr 09-09-2003 11:13 PM

Wow, my AMD doesn't even go that high.

smirabi 10-08-2003 09:05 PM

haha

yeah those tems seem fairly... no, really hot for a pentium, even under that stress... could be your HSF is the prob.... i've got a 2500Barton @2.2Ghz and i never go over 46C, usually am down in the low 40's tho. i use vantec aeroflow and arctic3silver. give a different hsf a try and see if your tems are still too high... also, make sure your case is giving enough fresh air to your cpu

Jason425 10-08-2003 10:04 PM

spark 7+ and stock fan = same temps.. i have to intakes, a pci exhaust and power supply exhaust. I've applied different compounds different times and with different amounts to no avail. right now somewhat idle (homework and forums) and at 42C.. and even worse.. when i dont OC. the temps don't change! makes no sense to me.
