Dorm Pics

Well, my roommates haven't arrived yet, but I'm mostly set up, so I figured I'd throw some pictures up. Beware, they're big, and there aren't thumbnails.

Enjoy

Crap... small... mabye its just a TX thing but those things are huge compared to every college campus ive been to. and you have your own bathroom... you have know idea how nice that is. The dorms here had a community crapper and shower which were usually trashed ontop of the added threat of the "3D" (thats dirty dorm dump for those not in the know). Seems like you got it going on... just remember tho it is college do experenice the getting drunk till you pass out and staring at all the lovley honeys(nothing wrong with looking right)?

Yes, it's a Fujitsu LifeBook P-1035. It has a TransMeta TM5500 "Crusoe" processor at 700 MHz, 128 MB PC133 SDRAM, 20 GB Toshiba Hard Drive, integrated WinModem and 802.11b, PCMCIA slot, speakers (crappy), sound input and output, USB 1.1, and SVGA through the use of a dongle.

I'm in "expanded housing," which means they put people in storage rooms and closets that they "converted" into living space, and put three people in two-person rooms, and such. It's actually not as bad as I was expecting, so it's not all bad. I move out of the room once a real room opens up (someone doesn't show up, or drops, or moves out).

I'm majoring in Computer Science. I'm taking four classes (15 credits), two of which are for my major, and two of which are fulfilling Liberal Education requirements. They are:
  • Calculus 2 (1272)
  • Computer Science (1901)
  • Moleculear Biology (1009)
  • Introduction to Mass Communication (1001)
I slept through my Bio lecture, which was my first class of the year, semester, month, week, day, etc..., but it has about 200 people in it, so I probably wasn't missed. I have some Asian guy for my Calc discussion, and some Russian guy for my Calc lecture, and i can understand about 80% of what they say, heh.

The intro to mass comm class is probably gonna suck. The teacher's requiring us to read the news paper every day (there are four pop quizzes, accounting for roughly 20% of my grade, about some random thing(s) from the news paper of the previous week, throughout the semester), among other things.

The Computer Science class uses the Scheme programming language (which is "a dialect of LISP"), and basically goes over programming theory, and concepts, and such, rather than teaching us actual programming stuff. The professor looks like Larry, or whoever, from The Three Stooges, who was bald on top, and had the big poofy hair on the sides. He laughs at 2/3 of the things he says, like "and then you just close the parenthesis." It's going to be interesting.

Well, not exactly. We have our room with a sink and mirror. We're all guys, so you *could* consider it a bathroom, but we haven't resorted to converting the sink into a urinal yet. We still have the communal bathrooms for showering, and excretions, and such.

well im sorry to say for both the classes, and bathroom situation, but welcome to college. Make sure to stock up on the bawls or somthing like it as youll prolly need it. And stay away from that fried dorm food. Also when it comes to dorm food, pay attention and you'll catch on. For example mashed potatoes here...
Standard mashed - fresh from the box
Mashed with cheese - one day old
Masahed with cheese and bacon - 2 days old.
Your best bet is to jack as many poptarts or any thing else you can cram in pockets or your bag.
