Some interesting News
Finally, an *Nix distributor tells its customers that it will stick up for them against SCO. While I understand Red Hat and other, less capital affluent companies, cannot afford such legal teams, perhaps some of the bigger vendors (Big Blue) needs to protect Linux IP. I never thought I'd ever say this, but thanks HP.
But some not so good Linux news, Seagate ships Lindows OS on Harddrives. I really like Seagate harddrives, that's what I buy. I do not want to have to deal with there being an OS when i buy a drive. I want the drive to be just that, nothing more nothing less. Hopefully MS doesn't follow suit. Read the agreement. Dartmouth gives free VoIP to its freshmen. Norton has acquired PartitionMagic, given stockholder and regulatory go-ahead occurs. I generally think this is good. PowerQuest's ridiculous division of its products for server/desktop OS (you had to buy two entirely different products for a server and a desktop OS that do the exact same thing) is incredibly annoying, especially with a price difference of $500. Hopefully this utility will just get thrown in to Norton Corporate, it will be more bloated than ever, and we can all live happily ever after, as people continue to spend $50 a pop for the home edition of Partition Magic. MS worries about children thus they kill chatrooms. Along with their MSN Messenger announcement going into effect next October, it's starting to look like MS is trying to make open communication on the net more and more proprietary. I was at first supportive of MS's move with MSN, considering their past in the IM client market, but I am now becoming skeptical. MS, you are about || this close from loosing another customer completely, especially after this past weekend's events on my computer. (Die Product Activation, Die!!!! Installing LILO can apparently cause that error to come up. And then sometimes repair installs don't work too well. And then....) |
