setting up a n/w

I am planning to set up a n/w at my work place.I need some suggestions as to how much the RAM, hard drive capacity should be, and the no of processors for a server that would be used by 10 users..

thanks,

What kind of server will you be running?

Website server?

Email?

Files?

if all of the above you may want 1024+ ram

Intel XEOn dual maybe

depends on a lot of variable tell us about your company

also post in the networking section next time

It all depends on the services that the system will provide to the clients. More details?

For 10 systems, you probably won't need a mid or high end server. The Xeons would probably be enough.

My office of 25-30 or so people has a server that does file depository, DNS, DHCP, NAT, email, VPN, ssh, and runs services for PCLaw, Amicus and several other obscure law programs and it is just a 1.4GHz Pentium (3 or 4), with 1Gig Ram, 80 Gig SCSI 10,000 RPM RAID5, with a cd-rom and floppy. Very basic, but it gets the job done and is never overworked. It's all a matter of the number of tasks the thing is running, and for what purposes.
