Help! Running too hot!

Hey, I'm new and I have a question.

First off, for background, I'm running a Soyo KT-400 Dragon Ultra (Platinum) MB, a AMD Athlon XP 3000+ CPU w/ stock heatsink and fan, 512MB Corsair PC-2700, a Radeon 9600 Pro, and a Maxtor 80 and 40GB hard drives. I think those are the main heatmakers. I'm running a 350W PS in a mid-tower case. It's got 1 intake fan in the front, I don't know what size.

Now my question is, how do you guys get your computer down to like 97 degrees?! My motherboard dectection says that things are running at like 140 degrees. Way to hot to me. To help I put round ATA cables in, but that didn't do a lot. Any suggestions to cool things down?

Thanks

my p4 goes to almost that high.. nothing i've tried works.. 2 intakes and 1 exhaust.. (well 2if u count psu) so i just let it go..

Thanks, but it still bothers me. Do u think getting a liquid cooled case would be too extreme? Or should I just look at getting more and better fans?

liquid is always good.. (and quieter) i have a "supposedly" real good fan, thermal take spark 7+ but its a screamer and cools just as well (or bad rather)as the stock fan so i just use the stock.

Liquid cooling will definatly help. It dropped my temp a ton and I have the same processor you do except mine is overclocke.

mid tower cases for lots of equipment is asking for lots of heat. a full tower case could be an easy solution to lots of your cooling needs. make sure you are using negative pressure cooling design, that'll help as well.

Thanks for all the help. I'm in a dorm, so the full tower may not work. Are all the liquid cooled cases full towers? It looked like it. Also, what cases do you reccomend, or should I just buy a kit and hook it up to my current case?

I have a P4 3.0Ghz C (not OC) in a Antec Sonata Case with 2 120mm Fans and my case temp is about 27C and the PSU temp is about 35-38C, but my CPU temp at idle is 45C and underload is about 55-62C. I have remounted the heatsink twice using Artic Silver 5. NOthing seems to help.
What else could I do?

Is that the 800 fsb model or the 533?

King4Mil 05-26-2004 04:58 PM

It is the 800FSB. Why do you ask?
