Matrix Revolutions Opens Today
 

There are just some movies that you can watch a few dozen times without them getting old, and Matrix is one of them. Some might think the question is "What is the matrix?" when in truth the question is "What will Keanu Reeves play in next now that he's done Matrix?" There also seems to be no way to make Laurence Fishburn look bad. Give the guy a long overcoat, a pair of shades, and he's Mr. Cool incarnate. A round of applause to a cast that made an amazing 3 movies. Its hard to top an original movie with a sequel, let alone make 2 more each better than the last. The cast is welcome to a round on me at any bar they want.

I know I'm personally going to see this like 3 times in the coming 2 weeks.

Each one better than the last?

First, in the original Matrix, Neo is made a veritable god by the end of the film. In the second Matrix, he still fights kung-fu (exclusively, despite his apparent mastery of all the martial arts of the world). Does he like playing in God mode? Does this desire to fight preclude his obligations to win as quickly as possible? I don't know. But, did the writers spend enough time on the plot? No. The Matrix: Reloaded made little sense, and the final Matrix is turned into a pseudo religious quest. The mechanical fight scenes are poorly done ripped off reformulations of those in Animes like Gundam Wing (and the other multiple Gundam based shows). The beauty of the first Matrix is that they leave the ending to your imagination. The mystery is dispelled. Once the production company decided to make more, the writers tried to recapure the essence of the first and failing miserably. The plot degenerated and was subsequently reduced to fighting, explosions, and special effects. While cool, there really is no reason to pay upwards of 7 bucks for it.

I gotta say that While I liked Matrix Revolutions, the ending is dissappointing to say the least. More closure was needed. And I am sorry but the second film, while a little light on storyline, rocked in terms of action.

I'll have to back Andrew here. The Matrix was good because it was more than an action film. Reloaded wasn't because it was just an action film. Granted, they used Kurt Vonnegut in a vague attempt to rebuild the philosophical inquiry of the original film, but failed miserably (woot Kurt!). I don't expect Revolutions to be very good. However, I have tickets to see it in I-Max, and since i've never seen a real film in Imax (just documentaries) i'm quite excited. But yea, what's up w/ this endless kung-fu crap when you are a demi-god?

It pretty much sucked. You have to watch the Animatirx to even understand anything. It offers more closure than the movie.
