Replacing OEM HSF

Netsmog forum Users,

I recently purchased a Swiftech MCXC370 Copper HSF and I am going to use it to replace the old OEM HSF that came pre-mounted to the Intel Coppermine Pentium III 1GHz processor on my mobo.

After I completed the removal of the OEM HSF I noticed that there was some compound left behind on the processor core from the compound that was applied previously.  This was expected.

The nature of this post is reguarding the removal of the compound on the processor core.  How should I go about doing this to avoid any damage to the chip?  Please keep in mind that there is quite a bit of compound present.

Thx N Adv.

yo bro, use acetone or rubbing alcohol, and when ya still don't get rid of it, use a wooden toothpick to carefully remove the stuff
