More Prescott Troubles

Prescott will be introduced within ten days. A lot of disquieting things are being said about it, presumably by those who are actually playing with the beast a little in advance.

In a nutshell, what these statements boil down to is that the pipeline has allegedly been increased to thirty stages, but it doesn't seem to do a whole lot of good in getting power and thermal requirements down to what would be historically expected.

This line kills me:

This is pretty bad for Intel. But don't worry, Intel fans, you're competing against AMD.

The 3400+ or the FX 51 in most cases is equal to or faster than the 3.2EE...But the article statest that the Prescott will be slower, thus making the new CPUs slower than AMD, plus they are only 32 bit...

that line doesn't suprise me.. and it has some truth to it. I doubt intel sales will fall very much, especially outside of the enthusiast community

Good point, I actually thought it was referring to the performance, but I believe you're right about it being sales. That's the problem with being an engineer, I look at performance where as a stock broker looks at sales...
