My biggest problem with moving to another browser has always been replication of programs on a single machine. I see no need to spend/have duplicate programs with the same purpose. How many versions of a word processing editor does a single machine need to have? If however, I.E. was uninstallable without affecting the OS stability and operability then I might consider moving to another program. I see no serious contenders out there. I.E. 6 provides all the features I currently need with decent security in my opinion. Could be much better though.

jason: are you really saying that the sole purpose you still use IE is becomes it comes shipped with your OS and you think redudancy is bad??? that seems like a pretty bad reason, considering the long standing, unpatched security holes in IE. do you uninstall notepad/wordpad after you install word?

Keefe 02-18-2004 01:38 PM

Good point James. I myself use Mozilla Thunderbird and I have been using it for awhile now. I see no redundancies with having internet explorer on the system as well. You can technically uninstall it, however that simply deletes all icons and reference to "internet explorer." The base of IE is still used when browsing folders, among other things.

Jason425 02-18-2004 01:44 PM

yea i have my own reasons for not using mozilla (though it's installed on my comp..) but redundancy is kinda lame. So do you only use WMP? no real (well real sucks so bad example) or winamp or quicktime? They all have their own uses.
