What would you suggest?

Im setting up an old Pentium 133 for a web page server.  It will have Windows 95 and 32 mb RAM.  What do you guys suggest for a free server program?  I have used Serv U and Guild FTP but they just give FTP access.  I want to have it so when I eventually buy a domain name I can foward it to my servers IP address.  Is there a program that does this?  Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill and it really could be done a lot easier?

Personally I would dump the MS OS and go with a linux flavor of your choice.

Freebsd is what I used on an old pent 120 for a year with no probs. Ran Apache, MySQL, PHP, Postfix. But most prefer Red Hat or Mandrake n such.

You can run Apache in a windoze environment, but for stability and reliability try the above mentioned out.

Is FreeBSD complicated to set up?  Ive never used any flavour of Linux or a Unix type OS.  BTW is the program Im looking for called Apache?

If you want to run it on your Windows Box then go to http://www.apache.org and download the 32bit version

In my opinion http://www.freebsd.org is rather simple to install and set up.

Check out http://www.mostgraveconcern.com/freebsd/ This link is a FreeBSD Cheat Sheet site, this guys pretty much lays it all out for you step by step. His notes are old but for the most part will help you through anyhow.

If you try it and need some help you can also go to http://www.defcon1.org and find many answers as well. You can always email me too I'll help as best I can.
