JUST INSTALL WINXP AND NOW GETTING NTLDR MISSING
 
hi everyone i'm having a problem with my compaq, i just installed a fresh copy of WINXP PROFESSIONAL but when it restarts to finish the install it says "NTLDR missing" i was wondering if anybody could help me out on this i would really appreciate it.

make sure you're booting off the (correct) hard drive - only guess i have with that info

Looks like your comp can't find your master boot record... you have to enable it.. also make sure your partition is set up correctly.

boot from the cd, go to recovery mode, at the command line type

make sure there's not a floppy in the drive

i got that a few times, i believe it was fixed by writing a new boot sector, insert WXP disc, go to repair, type in "fixboot", (that was a winner for a name eh?)

ironically i got that a few weeks ago

it occurs when sp1 is installed sometimes

he just needs to delete and recreate the partition

oh yea no big deal.. only lose everything on the partition.. :/ ...
