Dual Channel RAM on an Athlon XP System
There seems to be a debate whether or not special (expensive) "Dual Channel RAM", that is basically 2 slots of RAM from the same assembly line, so as to having the exact same operating frequencies, etc. There is a question I must ask: Does this type of RAM run well with an Athlon XP cpu? Does the AMD XP CPU fully use the capabilities and processes of Dual Channel Ram?
it depends on the motherboard's chipset and not on the cpu. The nforce 2 chipset supports dual channel ram
Yeah, also the VIA KT600 chipsets, they can be found in Asus and Abit boards among others. I have Dual Channel TwinX ram and it runs much faster than just two sicks of the same ram (bought seperatly). In PCmark, my dual channel ram out performed single channel ram by 2000 points, that's a big difference in PCmark.

and my ram owns all in pcmark because of course it's using an intel chipset! 8)
but my latency is through the roof :( |
heheh.. *looks at my twinX low latency* >:)
*looks at 3.4 ghz @ 2.5-3-4-5.. but at 5:4 to get more clock speed and lower latency*
Actually J425, my RAM score is higher than yours...Also, your links are broken.
looks like the idiots at futuremark discontinued pcmark2k2 scores...
mad onion > futuremark
;) |
but sadly mad onion = futuremark..
