Microsoft Dr. Watson Logs
Does anyone know how to read a Dr. Watson Log? I can't believe I can not find anyone in this world that can help me with this.

Re: Microsoft Dr. Watson Logs
Could you be more specific? What is in your log that you do not understand?
Dr Watson's funtion is to detect faults or errors and report them. Did Dr Watson pop up with a message? Or are you just opening it up and seeing what's there? If you could post a screen shot, I'll see if I can explain it for you. Thanks. |
Re: Microsoft Dr. Watson Logs
I got this error on when someone tried to open a form in a database. We have been working in this database for about a year now with no Dr. Watson errors at all. All of a sudden everybody is getting it.

Re: Microsoft Dr. Watson Logs
Mulled this over with my compadre over here and we have some questions/possibilites? :o
The error log shows a fault during a "mov". It would be very difficult to trace, need to know what brand database and version? When does the Dr. Watson error occur? Does it always occur when users focus on the "telephone number (or whatever)" field? Or does the error occur upon submit of the form to update the database? See it could be a problem with the form (perhaps the functions behind it where changed) MOSTLIKELY: Probably the worst mistake people make is they change the database structure and then wonder why all the forms BREAK. Perhaps they've added a new field to a table in the database and the form isn't quite sync'ed up to it yet??? I'd look for WHAT JUST CHANGED? (database?, network server?) when the errors started occurring? That's the best we could come up with thus far ??? |
Re: Microsoft Dr. Watson Logs
Thanks. We did make changes to the database, but not to any tables related to the form that was giving the error. We got the error when the form was being opened up. I refreshed the mde file and it seemed to go away. I guess this will be one of those mystery things....
We finally got some support here at the office. An "official" Microsoft person. OH BOY! (Shame you can't type sarcastically.) I really appreciate all your help. If I can ever do anything for you just let me know. PS. I have not checked your website yet. I registered but haven't been able to get to my email account to get the password to login. I have the next couple of days off(I think) so I will have a chance to look at it then. Have a Wonderful Day! |
Re: Microsoft Dr. Watson Logs
Hey anytime,
I rather enjoy being able to help when and if I can. Nothing is expected in return. Glad it's working for you. Nothing is more frustrating than knowing it's a simple fix and it's under your nose but you can't seem to locate it. Sometimes that individual standing on the outside is looking right at it and can say "hey, click that" and boom your back at it again. Have a good one! |
