partitioning...

I have an 80 GB hd right now and I am wondering if I partition it into 2 drives, one being only like 8-10 GB where I put my windows xp OS and games on. And then the other drive where I put misc. files such as movies, texts, and all that bad stuff . Will these make my system run smoother? And would I need an OS on the drive with 70GB if im just going to be running the files off the OS drive? both NTFS. any tips...

I don't see why you'd need an OS on the data partition.. it might make it a little smoother.

it's not going to make it run smoother.

but it could ease up on your hard drive a bit and defragmenting can be done in a more manageable fashion.

i prefer to keep a data partition seperate from the OS when possible. you have to be smart about it though, you could easily make it more trouble than it's worth, or much less efficient than it's worth.

just make both ntfs and on the data drive (more of the memory), dont install an O/S, right?

don't know why you'd need one there
