Intreasting. Hmm. You can try an INF install instead of the executable.
Get to your Display Settings (one with background, screensaver..etc..etc). Then go to Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter -> Change -> Next -> Search for... -> Specify Location - > browse.
Go to the CD and Thier should be a directory called win98 (you may have to search for it). It should contain the driver for your video card. And this *should* work.
*sigh* Another reason why I always prefer Nvidia, because they let windows install the drivers, instead of thier own program, which can cause problems
