a good test
A good way to test your core components is to use only your core components.
Basically take everything off and just plug in your power supply to your motherboard, insert your RAM (try just one stick), plug in your video card, put in your processor, and have your video card connected to your monitor. Make sure everything is plugged in firmly into their slots/sockets. Since you have many new components, they are probably very stiff and will be hard to put in completely. Make sure your jumpers are correctly set and connect all the wire from your case. Plug in your power supply to the wall and power it up.
Since your case may have a bad power button, I would suggest not connecting the power button plug that goes from your case to your motherboard. Instead use a flat-blade screwdriver to connect the two wires that it would be plugged into. That should start it up.
