After successfully installing Norton Antivirus on WinXP (it found 14 viruses in its initial scan), I can no longer open exe files by themselves. I have to open a file associated with that application for it to actually launch.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?? How should I go about fixing it (not counting format/reinstall).
