there really is no other body in which it is sensible to have net laws other than the UN. MAYBE the WTO, but not really, as I don't consider browsing/chatting to be trade issues, though maybe some types of required openness by the WTO would be cool, in order to make internet commerce more viable and trustworthy. If not the UN, then maybe something like the ISO could do the standard setting and governing. alot of it comes down to what you want goverend and what you dont' what goverened, and how those things should be goverened. i.e. we probably all agree standards are good things, but i doubt anyone would want them enforced per se. so, yea, my thoughts. the US should not be making laws for the rest of the world. (I say this as an American)
