Hey,

I had a comment about your VOIP review. You said towards the end that 911 is a major factor in VOIP being unpopular.

Well a couple of months ago when i was checking out VOIP services, one service (not sure if all of them or just a few or if it was only this one that does this) had a question at setup as to where your actual zip code was. It made it clear that regardless of where you wanted your area code you needed to put down your actual zip code. The reasoning was that it used some type of software so that if you dialed 911 it would go through to the correct location and show your address.

It was something similar to how cell phones work when they dial 911, but different. It also made it clear that if you used your VOIP service anywhere else but your residence, you would experience no problems, only that if you dialed 911 it would route your call to the location where your zip code was.

Just thought I'd let you know that VOIP is trying to compensate for the fact that you won't have 911 service. Sorry i don't know more about how it actually works, it was a long time ago.
