Last night I tore apart my laptop LCD to replace the backlight. First thing I said to myself was "Damn this thing looks sexy when it's out of it's bulky casing". Now, it just so happens that I have an xbox-in-car project going on. I already purchased an el-cheapo 6.5" LCD package from wal-mart (was ~$200 iirc), It comes with 2x6.5" LCDs and a DVD base unit. The DVD unit can take RCA input.

Here is what I was thinking. My existing 6.5" LCDs would also need a controller to take the RCA input -- the DVD unit obviously provides this conversion. So instead of buying a seperate controller board for my 14" LCD from my laptop, I was thinking it may be possible to splice into the existing board inside the DVD unit. VGA to RCA is easy to do also.

Now I know most of you are just looking for VGA -> TFT LCD cheap, but this may be a good solution for all you computer-in-car people.

If my thoughts are correct, I could have 3 LCDs and a DVD player for about $200 (cost of DVD + 2x LCD package).

I'll post more as I look into if anyone is interested.
