Alright I have decided to stop buy and see what progress has been made in this thread, and to share what I have learned.
Ok simply put it is possible but will cost you lots of money. LCD in laptop recieve their data via a DIGITAL signal, and no you cant just wire it up to a DVI port. You must either create or buy a converter board that will take an analog signal and turn it into a full on digital signal that the LCD can interpret. Regarding the claims that there are RGB leads on the LCD... so far every claim I have come across has been a phoney. The only way you can use an LCD screen from a laptop is if you can work out a way to send a digital signal to it. You can hook up LCD monitors as they already have a controller on them (hence why you use a 15 pin d-sub connector). You can just buy a controller from some website but finding one at a decent price and quality is near impossible. It would be cheaper and easier to use an LCD monitor.
