If you need web access, and you really want security, you might consider cryptomail.org,
http://www.cryptomail.org. It proivdes web-based secure email service free, oh, and GUN GPL of the software if you want to host your own. I used that before, and I host my own secure email service in my Linux box too. Give it a try, and protect your privacy.
