time for a new one, unless:

1) make sure your VGA cable is in the whole way
2) It could be your vid card that's defective, try that monitor using another vid card

Yeah time for a new one maybe. I had an old monitor that did that, I had to shake it (haha) to make it work properly but it eventually got worse and just stopped working altogether.

Quite a while back I purchased a MAG 19" flat screen CRT. I really wanted a Samsung but the Samsung's and Viewsonic's had rebates. I hate Rebates! So I bought the MAG (No Rebate). I bought it at Best Buy and I also purchased a 3yr BB warranty. About 1 year after I bought it I came home from work and turned on my computer, the screen was Blue although I could still see everything. This lasted for about 15 minutes then it went back to normal. The next day or two this continued. Then a few days later I turned it on to find it Green, this lasted for about 20 minutes each time. A week later I came home to find it had turned Redish, Pink and now was lasting for over a half an hour. I call Best Buy Warranty information, they said the monitor was bad and to return it to any Best Buy.
A good outcome: Best Buy no longer carried that Flat Screen MAG so they asked me if I wanted the Viewsonic or the Samsung. I took the Samsung. After all was said and done BB gave me $31.50 back because the prices had gone down since I purchased the monitor and they also gave me Rebate Forms for another $40 from Samsung.
So I got a New Samsung Monitor, $71.50 cash back, and still had the remainder of the 3yr BB warranty.

Paid off in the end for you

Not to totally go off topic, but I must say I really like Best Buy's warranties if you actually take advantage of it.

I had that happen to me a long time ago, gradually to an old CRT. Mine was a result of keeping old set of magnetized speakers right next to the monitor. (That's what I thought it was anyway, maybe it was just its time to go )
