they ALWAYS had a monopoly. so many sports franchises opens up and EA always owns them. Even ESPN series by SEGA... they are selling them each at $20 new but they STILL get outsold by Madden priced at $50.

you just proved yourself wrong.. EA did not have a monopoly because people (espn and other companies) COULD still compete.. now it sounds like they can't even if they want to...

if you can read what I previously said, i stated that ea always had had a monopoly. the new franchises came out and they still crushed them. and there are no "other companies". sega and madden were the only real franchises, and it just happened that sega was ALWAYS getting outsold and beaten.

So basically they were given a legal monopoly over the market. They had a monopoly over it, but not a true one and without resulting from monopolistic actions... back to the topic...
It seems like everything that has to do with the NFL any more is all about money. The players, franchises, and league all have shown that they are willing to do anything for money, win or lose. Few sports are about the game any more.

true... Ranking the "big 4" in terms of $ whoring would be
1) hockey (because they're locked out)
2) football (duh..)
3 and 4 = undecided.. because courtside seats (and all seats for that matter) are so freaking expensive and a-rod gets the biggest contract in sports.. so who knows...
