Default Zone Alarm

I think this is security related enough to go in here...

I've had this computer for about a week now, and naturally the first thing I did was stick on zonealarm. But already it says it has blocked 682 intrusions, 580 high rated. Most of these are coming from the same IP addresses, just with different ports and some are home dsl lines. I'm pretty sure I don't have any trojans as I haven't downloaded anything yet and I'm on a dialup so my IP changes each time I connect. Where could all these attempted intrusions be coming from?

I'm not a network and I'm on dialup so my IP changes every time I connect, so there's no way they could get my IP :/

You could be in an area with a high infestation of zombie's (computer infected with trojans) or virui and they are port scanning to spread the infection. Not sure but it's a possiblity.

I agree with the last post. IP blocks that are known for being easy targets may be scanned more often than other IP blocks. Just trust that ZoneAlarm is making you invisible to those attempts and that will stop most of the script kiddies out there.

Just becasue you are on dialup, don't think you can't be hacked. yes your IP Address does chnage, but if you stay online long enough, the better your chance of having that address compromised.

generally, most people won't be cracked, windows systems aren't generally that bad security wise, as long as you don't run any server software you're generally alright

people are way to paranoid about being cracked, crackers aren't interested in some random ip which isn't running any known servers or trojans

if i didn't run a spare linux box as my server and stuff, i wouldn't even bother with a firewall, if i'm not running any servers and stuff, i don't really need it, i'm not retarded enuff to get trojaned either

all zonealarm (and the rest of these personal firewalls) do is feed off peoples fear and total lack of clue

when i was an aoheller *shuder* all that time ago i used to get a ton of alerts, mostly from AOHell itself, all it does is make you panic, and think you're under attack by some 1337 h4xx0r they've pissed off

Your Zonealarm firewall blocked too freqently, the Frizzler worm virus spread all of IRC, Mail, Music swappers and etc. It's good to block infected bots tried onto your PC on your ZA Firewall

My IRC server blocked the infected bots tried to getting onto my IRC server. The modded magick services very great security features (not mines it's a coder).
