Default Pirate Bay down temporarily

Anyone familar with the Swedish P2P site Pirate Bay? They have been at the center of the peer-2-peer discussion for a while now and are in the middle of a big political battle where they are located, Sweden. The anti-pirate forces there got a warrant to confisicate their servers yesterday, but apparently this is only a temporary setback and they expect to be back up soon.

Been a while since I checked the site; I believe it's not the first time that they go through this, and they came unscattered the other times around.

An article I just came across today suggested the US government, and specifically the Department of Justice pushed the Swedish government very hard to get this shut down.

I understand all the issues with protecting intellectual property, but I have a huge problem with the amount of influence the RIAA and MPAA have over the government in the United States.

I agree... the government needs to quit being a wussy baby and put the RIAA and MPAA in their place.

I just came across something pretty funny. If you do a traceroute on thepiratebay.org you get a pretty good resolution on the last hop.

I will let you all look for it yourself.

It didn't last long, Pirate Bay was up and running a few days after the incident happened. :/
