Default Mac to PC and PC to mac

I was wondering, can one make a Mac run windows or A PC run Mac without having the platform native OS (Mac OS or Windows) and special software (Virtual PC for Mac). I mean, after all, their just stupid machines that can be manipulated by intelligent programmers, right?

Hhmm...interesting question there.  I would highly doubt you could do that though.  Actually, let me rephrase that.  You probably cannot do that unless you start building the OS from the ground up.  One reason is that the OS is programmed (made) in a way to take advantage of certain characteristics of the processor that it was meant for.  An example of this is that you cannot run Windows on a RISC processor.  I don't think the processors on a Mac and a PC are the same.  What I mean to say is that they have different architectures.

Same thing would be that you cannot run Windows CE on a regular PC without a Windows CE emulator.  The processors that run those particular OSes are just built differently.

So, to answer your question.  It could be possible...provided you start from scratch with the OS and program it to look like and have the same capabilities of the other OS.

thanks for the info and reminder. I almost forgot that the Macs use a RISC processor while pcs typically don't.

Macs use RISC processors?  I didn't know that. I was only using RISC as an example for the different architecture argument.

I beleive Mac's do use a RISC but couldn't swear to it only at it.  By the way can't NT run on a Risc processor???? Just curious.  Also I ain't sure 'cause I'm not an Apple freak but hasn't apple already upgraded to 64 bit processors where we are still running 32 bit.
