Default Free Firewall & Computer Security Info.

New to this board, Wanted to let all users here know about a very good firewall program that you can download for free!!  The program is called "Zonealarm" and to download it go to www.zonelabs.com   It was designed by Steve Gibson who has another site at www.grc.com , I highly suggest that all computer users connected to the net go to grc.com and check it out for yourself.  You'll learn alot and after visiting there if your system isn't firewall protected, you'll go immediately go to zonelabs and download the free version of zonealarm.  You can find reviews of this program on any good tech site like CNET or ZDNET.  I also highly recommend that while your at the grc site you go to the page titled "Secret Project X" and scroll to the bottom and click the link called "Afew truely cool utilities"  I found a couple of very useful items there that I downloaded as shareware & then liked so much I actually mailed the writers the $10 they were asking for!  I'm usually not a real big fan of shareware or freeware, as my experience has been you get what you pay for!!  But there are a few exceptions and these programs fall into this category.

I use Zonealarm on my home PC.  I love it!  It has so many features and you can find out exactly what appz are using the net and who is pinging, portscanning, or trying to hack you.  I have used it to catch hacker a couple of times for some friends of mine.  The best feature that i like in it is that you can totally shut off all incoming traffic..so you are still on the net...but people cannot even ping you.

The free version is great for one PC if you have a network then you'll want the Pro version which support NAT

Either way you go ZoneAlarm is one of the better win32 firewalls out there.
