Default help building perspex (or whatever) case

Hey guys, new to the forums but i have been here looking at all your awesome case mods. Anyway im doing a project at school for my year 12 design and technology class where we can make almost anything we want and i was stuck for ideas then i thought hmm how about a computer case, went looking on google found lots of nice looking cases but the ones i liked best were the full perspex cases. Now as this is my FIRST ever attempt at anything like this i thought id better ask for AS MUCH advice as i can get off you guys. Now i have thought of a design for my case which ill explain in a second (havnt had time todraw it or anything yet) anyway what advice can you give you to building a case..i'm going to use my existing mobo hd and stuff just add a few extra fans, fan control and some lights if i have room. Now is there a specific way i should mount everything? or is this ok :

Code:
	________
	 |    |
      ============

==  = perspex
| = bit of perpes for screws to mount everything
¯¯ = mobo or what ever
Oh and whats the best way for joining all the sides of the case like glue or metal screw joint things (cant remember what they are called)

Oh erm I guess ill need a new PSU for the extra fans and stuff (ill post about this tomorrow or sometime with more info as im not too sure of it atm)

Anyway i probably havnt asked much about building a whole case but im in a hurry right now and run out of things to ask so please add your own advice

THANKS!!

Oh and heres the case design (notepad rules)
Code:
TOP
 ___________
|===4===|   |  1. PSU
|       | 1 |  2. CD BURNER WITH DVD UNDER IT
|       |___|  3. FAN CONTROL
|¯¯¯¯| | 4. SOME KIND OF LIGHT (OR WHERE EVER IT CAN FIT)
| 2  |      |
|    |¯¯¯¯¯¯|
|____|__3___|

FRONT
 ___________
| 2  | | 4  | 1. MOBO
|----| |----| 2. DVD
|_3__| |_5__| 3. CD BURNER
|           | 4. FAN CONTROL
|=====1=====| 5. DISPLAY (IF I CAN AFFORD ON AND HAVE TIME)
 ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Anyway thats the basic design, will add 2 handles on top too. Oh havnt put fans on there.

One last thing, how long in hours would it take to make a perspex case???

Once again thanks

P.S ill post this one a few sites to get more replies

Default solutions?

Hi there, look i know you woudn't have to but could you please email me anything you found out...i really need to know myself what the best way to get the sides together and everything like that...i am having a hard time in finding this information out...

one thing i have found is screwing a little cube into the corner so that the perspex is then able to be screwed to that...good luck and i hope i helped you think a bit...anything you might know like i said would be greatly appreciated if you could email me.
cheers

I cant say ive built a case with perspex but i can give you some general pointers... First of all you are going to need the measurements for the slots, Specks can for an atx case can be found online or i wouldnt be suprised if someone in these forums had them. The second thing i can tell you you may very well already know, Your two most important tools are a pencil and paper. Plan everything to the smallest detail, others may disagree but i would go as far as to cut out cardboard or some other disposable material construct a test. The structure wont hold any thing(duh :P ) but you can check if everything lines up like you want it to and you have enough cable reach for your devices. As far as actually binding the case together, you might think about a clear AB Epoxy resin ive had a lot of success with it. It dries clear so you wouldnt see unsightly screws or anythign of the sort. but again i have never used perspex so i cant say how it would work.
