Default setting up a network

Hi all

I am planning to set up a n/w at my work place.I need some suggestions as to how much the RAM, hard drive capacity should be, and the no of processors for a server that would be used by 10 users.
The users will be running simulation models written in java,c++,vb..and GIS(Geographic Information systems)...Do u think 1 dual processor server would be fine or do i need 2 servers...
thanks

Default Ummm let me see

Are the apps going to be served or running off of the individual workstations? If off the wrksta then a single CPU server will do fine, especially if its only going to be a file & print server or exchange server. If the apps are served which usually is only for databases not programming apps go with dual. CPU's should be nothing less than 2Ghz for worthwhile investment. With only (10) users thats all you should need. (3) 40-80 GB Hdd for Raid striping w/ parity (redundancy is good), max the ram (512 at the least).
