Default XP computer runs CHKDSK on each boot? WHY??

My funny XP- professional computer runs "chkdsk" untility each time and scans my harddrives for errors. But ironically, it does not check or scan the C-drive, which is the system drive. How can I turn this util off? I never want my computer to chkdsk without my consent, again! (-:

Thanks for your help.

Is the drive fat32? If so, convert to ntfs and it should fix it.. and trying to stop almighty windows is a worthless effort.. it runs the world.. ahh!! good luck fixing it
