Default 64-Bit News

Pentium V will launch with Windows Elements (aka 64bit Windows)

An editorial of the recent history of 64bit chips and why it is perfectly legitimate to say AMD beat Apple to the 64bit desktop: Apple's Jaguar still isn't out, and when it does come out, it will only be capable of 64bit addressing, not full 64bit compatability. (Does anyone know if there is a flavor of Linux that will run in 64bit mode on the G5??)

Windows Elements seems like DOS 2 instead to me. DOS was once a stable OS or platform for a bigger OS, but then they kept adding layer upon layer to raise the number of bits it supported. I hope that MS doesn't fall into that trend again because MS will likely be my primary OS for at least another few years and I am almost certain I like using a stable OS.
