Default Need Storage?

Internet Archive has developed what it calls the Petabox. A 20x8x8 cube that stores and processes one Petabyte of information (one million gigabytes).

Should be good enough to handle the spam that hits my TWL inbox for a month.

The Petabox

You think too small. I need an entire raid array of these. 32 total hooked up to my own personal Cray. Now were playing with power.

Don't ask. If you want one just lop off a leg and arm, hock your soul to the devil > and crawl down to their offices and offer your life, limbs, and evil money > in exchange for a unit. You would be getting a deal

In other words its beyond the purchase ability of us mere cosumers.

I'd estimate that it will sell for about $15k and up once this reaches mainstream market.

Now now kids, dont lop off any limbs or go hocking your soul. I wasnt being literal.

No kidding.

With about 4 of those or a larger array you could host the entire internet.

The entire internet would need a few more than 4 of those. I can't even begin to image the total information storage needed to host the entire internet.

How much does 1 of these cost? $1,000? If it's $1 per GB, then 1,000 GB would be $1,000...Of course, it would be much more because of the technology and the fact that it's new...
