Default HELP! problem buring CD's with NEC 2500A

Hey guys!

I have a NEC 2500A that was burning Maxwell audo cd's at 32X just fine till a few days ago. I have the lateast firmware, and Nero 6.6. It burns fine at 24X speed but it fails at 32X with the following error:

11:38:20 PM #60 SCSI -1135 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1445
SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 0, LUN 0, buffer 0x032A0000

TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)

11:38:20 PM #61 CDR -1135 File Writer.cpp, Line 304
Write error

Can anyone help me figure out what can be wrong? I have tired simulation and it works fine when simulating a burn but when acutally writing it fails.
Not only that but the burning also fails in Roxio 7 and with memorex cd's.

Is this a harware problem or software issue?

try going back to the old firmware and see if it fixes it.

Hi thanks for the reply! Acutally I updated the firmware to 1.07 after i started getting this problem. It didnt seem to help much...Recently I did get a new video card (Leadtek 6800). Also installed winfox 2 which is the software that came with it and rivatuner for overclocking the video card...I dont really see how this would effect the cd burner not being able to burn 32x speed but do you think this can be a issue?

or try forceASPI

Nope ASPI layer is good...I have a Adaptec ASPI utility which tells me if its installed and good or not. Also i looked it up online and they said one easy way to check if the layer is good or not is to start a program like smartripper which will detect it and give a error. I tired that and it seems to be fine.

I am thinking the drive is bad. I have another drive that can burn at 48x I am gonna pop that in and see if that allows me to burn at 48x. If it does that means its the drive and nothing else.

hmm yes it could be the hardware too

i have heard of someone getting an NEC 3500A that has had lots of trouble burning CD-Rs even DataLifePlus Made in Singapore discs (MCC)
perhaps there are some quality issues with current productions of NEC dvd burners?

these are just rare cases though
NEC is still a good brand

np i tried...

how about burning dvd?
any problems with that?

if so, maybe lens is messed up

do a read test on the failed burning disc with Nero CD DVD Speed
see if the errors are at when the motor is switching speed to higher rotation

sometimes its the angular momentum causing the problems
or it could be just the lens messed up

if it is hardware related at all
