People may remember a few months back when Blackberry almost had their entire network shutdown due to patent infringement. They were at the 12th hour of a judge about to issue a restraining order which would have shut down their whole network before they settled.
Blackberry competitor Ogo, which first appeared with AT&T Wireless, which is now Cingular, has come up with a plan to avoid any problems in the future.
They have designed all aspects of their communication network on the open standards, so nobody can be crying propietary.
