Powerful lasers.

Over the past few months theres been some fanatical improvements in laser/diode technology. I, myself am very interested in lasers/ laser pointers. So i researched around and found a nice little site called, www.Wickedlasers.com On this site i found various (all hand held) laser pointers, some stronger then others. The weakest ones started at >5mW(MilliWatts) and went up to, believe it or not - 400+mW. As I read threw the site i learned that some of them can do various tricks as light matches, pop a balloon from many meters away, and string ur skin if held close up.

So, i couldnt help stopping myself from buying one. I ended up purchasing a "Phoenix" 75mW laser. When i recieved it and popped two AAA batteries in it i was extremely impressed. For starters, it was still daylight when i tried it out and still maintaned a very strong dot. This dot could be very visable from hundreds of feet away too! When night fell i was once again blown away. Shining the beam into the sky (which is illegal by the way but ill get into that later) created an almost light saber like look. The laser shoots a long and very visable beam from the pointer and it goes up 30+miles into the sky.

However its important to state that these lasers arent toys. The power output is extremely high which is why they are banned/illegal in many states, and even entire countries. Infact i looked into some old Newsday articles and found several articles of people (teens) getting arrested/repremanded for shinning this powerful lasers into the sky at night, and sometimes hitting planes?!
